The 2030 Ulsan Biomedical Industry Development Strategy Symposium

UNIST and the Ulsan Metropolitan City hosted the 2030 Ulsan Biomedical Industry Development Strategy Symposium and the 1st Genome Korea Conference at UNIST on December 17, 2015.

Prof. Yoon-Kyoung Cho (School of Life Sciences) introduced the big 5 focusing research areas such as the diagnosis and therapy technique, medical image technique, 3D printing technique, smart medical devices and new medicine development for incurable disease. Prof. Jong Bhak (Schoolof Life Sciences) presented the promotion strategy of Genome Korea Project.

At the event, the guests also signed the letter of intent to participate in the Genome Korea Consortium at this event. The Genome Korea Consortium will promote the commercialization of analyzing and producing the enormous amount of genetic information by communicating with the research institutes, universities, hospitals, and companies. This consortium
will be processed mainly at The Genomics Institute of UNIST and the Ulsan Genome Research Institute of Ulsan University Hospital.

The Genome Korea Consortium will develop an industrial foundation in genomics for a future biomedical industry through the Ulsan 10,000 Genome project. The consortium will facilitate the development of new sequencing and analysis technologies to achieve personalized medicine in Korea.
